Tomato Pickle

Todays receipe is something i learned from my friends mom. It is called ava pettina tomato chutney. It is so delicious that i cant wait to blog it.


Tomatoes - 2
Garlic - 1 (crushed nicely into fine pieces)
Mustard powder - 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder as required
Salt to taste
Oil for tempering
Coriander leaves to garnish

For Seasoning/Tempering

Cumin seeds  - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Bengal gram - 1 tsp


1. Crush the tomatoes using hand into fine pieces. Consider nice red tomatoes which will be easy to smash.
2. Add Mustard powder, garlic, red chilli powder and salt according to your taste.
3. Heat the oil in a small kadai. Once it is hot, add all the ingredients listed under tempering. Add this tempering to the above made tomato mixture.
4. Garnish with Coriander leaves.

Note:- This pickle stays fresh for a week.
